Pitch your Concept

If cinema has been your thing and if you think you are ready to make your sincere production, this is where you stop. We are independent, we love new ideas and creativity is already a thing of the past, so if cinema for you is about exploring whom you have become and expressing above all; read the following.

SFF will be producing six short films between 2010 to 2012, each with a minimum of 20 minutes runtime. Filmmakers who have earlier worked on one independent production may apply for funding.
Individuals willing to receive funding should submit the following documents for selection.

  • Final Script, Film synopsis with a one line description, Film Treatment note along with a Portfolio and a CV
  • Next round of submission open from July 2010.

Selection of any script completely rests upon the selection jury at SFF and the decision is indisputable. SFF looks for the following qualities in a concept:

  1. Independent concept that explores life as an original perspective of the artist.
  2. Unbiased work not inclining to any political, social or economic notions.
  3. The film must promise independent analysis and discourse in the audience.
  4. The final product must not promise obedience to any pre-relevant film structures.
  5. The structures promised must stay true to the artist and to the creation of independent film forms in Nepali cinema.
  6. The individual submitting the concept must be of Nepali origin and the content deal with Nepal.
  7. The filmmaker must be willing to develop the script further if needed and improvise changes if required.
  8. Any individual submitting a concept must be a member of the Docskool film network.

Films that stay true to the above mentioned guidelines will be funded for independent production where SFF shall work as the producer and the selected individual as the creative core for the film. Funding for a film does not refer to technical or manpower support and shall be the responsibility of the selected artist.
