The Short Film Factory (SFF) is a specific film label destined to work in the creation and promotion of films with short lengths.
In Nepal although majority of the films hitting theaters come generally from larger investments revolving in a system that has by now been mastered to replicate foreign structures; there is also a developing trend among new film enthuse to create films of their interest and screen them. The factory sees these interests as very important factors in the creation of a new film form within Nepal. With film building as an art, we see independent exploration as the only means to go about developing cinema hence SFF makes movies rather than stay trapped to conventions or beliefs that promise a specific delivery.
Established out of discussion from filmmakers at Docskool and promoted by Harke- Films, SFF is an independent label which makes the best of its unique structure to produce and promote short films. Filmmakers from all fields of life are capable of pitching concepts to the SFF all year round which upon the selection by Docskool is supported for funding by SFF and the product marketed by Harke- Films. The larger idea is to ensure a filmmaker doesn’t die hungry and that films regardless of its sizes are able to communicate.
SFF is network hungry and we would love to hear and discuss of things that can be done in the promotion and development of short films in Nepal or with international collaborations. There are many ways an individual can be involved in our projects please visit the specific section in the website.
We are currently stationed together with Harke- Films at Gaurighat and can be visited anytime with a phone call in advance.
